Tiger Woods gave his first press conference. He appeared humble and admitted to his past ill-behavior. He said he was gratified by the positive reception he had received, from his fellow-golfers as well as the hundreds of enthusiasts out watching him take his swings. He said he has regained the excitement to play golf that he had been lacking during the last few years. He looks forward to the Masters.

Despite Woods recent transgressions he is still considered one of the most successful golfers of all-time. Woods was born in 1975. When he was three years old he appeared on the Mike Douglas Show where he played golf with Bob Hope. A year later the youngster shot a 48, over nine holes, at the Navy Golf Club in Cypress, CA. In the years 1984 to 1990 Woods won the Optimist International Junior World Golf Championships. In 1991 Golf Digest named him the Amateur Player of the Year.

During his high school years he continued his domination in the world of golf. This continued when he transferred to Stanford University. However, after a couple of years at the prestigious school he dropped out to turn professional. Although he no longer attended Stanford, in 1996, he won the PGA Tour at Las Vegas Invitational as well as the Walt Disney World/Oldsmobile Classic. Sports Illustrated voted him the Sportsman of the Year. This was also the year he signed endorsements worth $40 million.

In 1997 Woods won the PGA tour at Mercedes Championships. He also won the Masters. He became the youngest Masters winner in history. He was voted as the PGA Player of the Year. He was also voted as the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year. The following year he reached the number one ranking.

The years ahead saw Woods continue his domination of golf. He won tournament after tournament. He also married and became a father. The year 2009 ended with Woods being involved in a number of sex scandals. He suffered a quick fall. Following a mysterious car crash and the admission of many extramarital affairs, Woods lost millions of dollars in sponsors as well as the possibility of losing his wife. He went into therapy in order to restore his life and hopefully his marriage. The Masters will be his first appearance, his comeback, which is the first major championship and the biggest event of the golf season. The billionaire golfer will hit the greens with a lot to prove.
